A beautiful part about life is that we are all inspired by others, like a rippling effect. That is why it is so important to listen to your authentic true self.
We are given our unique wishes, desires, personality traits, and so forth because there is no one else like us in the world.
We are individuals, and when we come together we comprise the whole, each adding our own unique piece to the puzzle. We inspire and influence others and are influenced ourselves every single day, whether we know it or not. It could be something someone said, or how they live their lives (no words needed) that inspires us to rise to our potential.
Inspiration can come from a variety of sources both internally (from our own inner urges) or externally (from our encounters in the world). As a personal example, I had taken piano lessons for a few years as a child. Later on, as an adult, I began feeling the constant urge to take lessons again (for a few years, actually), and it was always this insistent thought in the background of my mind. Not loud enough to force me to take action, but still always there, talking to me in thoughts, whispers, feelings, and emotions.
Aside from feeling or thinking that I wanted to play the piano again I also remember constantly hearing the song Record Year, by Eric Church, on the radio, which talked about “quarter notes” and “songs in the key of life,” and every time I heard those words they felt like they connected right with my heart.
However, I was busy with school, work, and life in general, and I didn’t want to commit to the time or financial resources required to take piano lessons. I was aware of the internal communication urging me to take lessons again, yet I was not fully listening to myself because I wasn’t taking action. I was making excuses as to why I couldn’t follow through with my inner guidance.
I’m happy to say at the present time, I’ve been taking piano lessons for almost a year and a half, and at times it’s hard to make time to practice, but I do, and I really enjoy it. I’ve noticed a lot of benefits, such as having a creative outlet to express myself, and at times when I’m playing a song I feel like the music is playing right on my heart. At other times, I’ll be going along throughout my day, and I’ll have a song I’ve practiced on the piano playing in the background of my mind, and it puts me in a good mood. I also believe music is very healing, whether we are creating it ourselves, or just listening to it.
Sometimes the inspirations we receive get drowned out, pushed into the background, or ignored due to the busyness of life. I encourage you to ask yourself, what has been tugging on your heart strings lately? What inspired thought do you need to act on?
It could be something that you really want to do, or somewhere you really want to go, but haven’t taken action on, or made time for. It’s important to recognize what it is, acknowledge you are getting the urge to explore whatever that thing is for you, set your intention to do it, and then act on it! Action is the bridge that connects our dreams with our reality. So get out there and take some action today!
