Recently, while having brunch with a friend of mine, I mentioned it would be fun if we got together for some beach days over the summer. My friend’s response took me by surprise because she told me that she had bought a one-way plane ticket, and would be moving across the country at the end of the month! She had just finalized plans to ship her car and all her belongings. Further, she did not know anyone where she would be moving to, but the move had been a desire in her heart for a long time. Listening to her plans, I felt so inspired by her bravery and her decision to follow her heart!
I began thinking about when we first met a few years ago. We were in the same intuitive development program in San Diego, and one day she asked if I wanted to carpool since we were the two people in the class that lived the furthest away, and drove a similar route. I began thinking about how we would take those car rides and chat on the long drives to and from class. It was nice to have a friend to ride with and to show up to class with. Looking back, I really enjoyed those times.
The classes we attended are long over, my friend is a new mom, and now moving out of state. It’s caused me to reflect on a lot, and I hope back then that I cherished the time we spent together while it was happening, because we can never have those moments back again. Everything changes—a lesson I’ve noticed more prevalently in recent times. It is okay that things change, they always will. It just makes me realize how important each moment is.
Our conversation also caused me to reflect on myself and the holding pattern I’ve been finding myself in for what feels like an extended period of time. There are many times in our lives that we are hoping for changes to occur in some area of our life, but those changes don’t always come in the timing we expect. Even during times when outwardly things don’t seem to be changing, and instead seem to remain the same day after day, it’s about enjoying the moment and the season of life that you find yourself in.
Plus, isn’t that how all the miracles and big changes happen for us anyway?
It seems like whenever we are truly enjoying ourselves and not worrying about how this or that will work out or come to pass, then that thing we wanted suddenly appears in our life. Out of the blue it happens! Bam! The universe knows what we want. It knows it from the moment we place the order.
However, if we’re in resistance because what we want isn’t happening in the timing we think it should, as opposed to truly enjoying what we have and where we find ourselves right now, then it’s going to be that much harder and take that much longer for the things we want to show up. So cherish the moment and enjoy your life, exactly as it looks like today, because regardless of your surroundings you are one-hundred percent capable of soaking in the moment you find yourself in and creating some amazing experiences given the exact circumstances that you find yourself in now.
