Feeling Like You Don’t Fit In Is Actually a GOOD Thing

Have you ever felt like you don’t quite fit in? Like an outsider looking in at the rest of the world? Or as if everyone else seemed to be on one page and you were on another?

If so, chances are you are someone who has never been content to simply follow the crowd. Since childhood I have always felt “different,” as if I wasn’t quite like everybody else. As a child, I didn’t have the perspective to understand that being different or unique was actually being authentic, and therefore both a good thing, and important.

Growing up when we feel “different” from everyone else, from the pack, we assume there is something wrong with us, all the while not knowing that it is completely okay to be “different.” The beauty of each of us lies in our unique vibration. When we give ourselves permission to fully be ourselves, we become powerful. We are at our happiest when we are fully able to be ourselves (without trying to mimic or impress others, or fit in with the crowd), because we can just be us.

Many of us go through phases where in the process of trying to navigate life we try to fit in. Eventually we come to realize that true happiness comes from being the authentic, unusual, quirky, awesome person that we are. There is no one like us, and there never will be. We do a disservice to our self and others when we don’t let the full radiant light of the unique vibration that we are shine. Give yourself permission to be that light!

Every day I give myself permission to be myself and I validate myself instead of looking to others to do it for me. We don’t need the approval of others, or for them to tell us that we are doing the right thing, or are good enough (for who anyway? Them? Ourselves?). What matters is that we approve of ourselves.

Look to yourself, not outside of yourself for validation. When we learn to validate ourselves, meaning trusting ourselves, giving ourselves permission to be our authentic selves, and not putting what others think about us above what we think about ourselves, we become happier, and we move into greater alignment—in other words a place that feels good and feels right.

I was recently in a metaphysical shop when I stumbled across the oracle card section. There was one Kuan Yin Oracle deck on the shelf, and when I picked it up I saw running lights in the peripheral of my left eye. A few moments later it happened again! I recognized that I was being communicated with by the spirit world. I had come across the Kuan Yin Oracle deck online before, and since then had been interested in it, and now here it was in my hands. I decided to buy the cards and take them home! Kuan Yin, also spelled Quan Yin, is an Ascended Master that I have repeatedly worked with over time, and very much feel an affinity to.

The first reading I did with this deck was a three-card reading asking for whatever guidance Kuan Yin wanted to communicate to me. All messages were helpful, but one in particular put things into perspective in a way that really made sense. I got the impression this message would be helpful for many people:

The description accompanying the card I drew read, “You may have felt different to those around you at different times in your life. This is meant to be, beloved one. You cannot be a pioneer of different consciousness on this planet if you feel completely comfortable in the consciousness that already exists around you! Do you know that this was chosen ‘on purpose’ so you could be ‘on purpose’? Your Soul chose to be of service by not fitting in, so that it would remember through things ‘not feeling right’ that it was meant to help correct and heal the consciousness on our planet, starting with the Self.” This message rang full of so much truth for me. It felt good to have my experience of feeling like the odd one out validated and articulated in a way that really resonated with me.

For any of you feeling like you are different from the crowd, know that you have an important contribution to share with the world, and that your sense of feeling like an outsider is there to show you your unique path and to light your way. Follow it, because what truly lights you up will also light up the world.

The more you act as and show your authentic self (by doing, speaking, and acting in a way that is unique to you) the less you will feel like an outsider because it will feel good to be on your path, and it will feel good to be in alignment with your source self, who you truly are.

You’ll always feel like an outsider when you are a star shaped peg trying to fit into a square shaped hole (so to speak). Once you stop trying to fit into the mold you think you’re supposed to fit into and start living authentically, you will feel and be in alignment. You will be walking in your truth.
