Recently, I woke up and was lying in bed when I began to feel this intense scratchy (think conflict based) energy—the type that made me think my day was not going to go smoothly.
Experiencing that type of energy right out of the gate caused me to think I’d be receiving work related emails all day long, that I was going to encounter some type of problem or issue, or some type of emergency situation at work I’d have to deal with. Basically, the scratchy and uncomfortable vibration I was experiencing had me anticipating and feeling like my day was going to bring more of that same vibration.
The way I felt struck me as being strange because usually the moment I wake up I’m not feeling a vibration like that. As I lay there taking it all in, I thought to myself, No! I definitely don’t want my day to go like that, and I certainly don’t want to feel like that. So from that moment I began to very intentionally set my day. As I lay in bed I envisioned how I wanted to get out of bed, what I was going to wear when I got dressed (something that felt good), and other things I planned to do to get my day moving in a positive direction. I then intended to have very positive experiences throughout my work day. I also set my intention for the things I knew I wanted to accomplish during the day.
I chose to write a script in my mind and visualize how I wanted things to play out instead of having that energy that I did not like when I woke up determine how my day was going to go.
It served as a great reminder of the importance of living in a very intentional way.
Often we get so set in our routines, for instance, we have a job we go to during the week, we wake up every morning at a certain time, and know we are going to go there, and that we will be there all day, and then we come home and we have responsibilities and things to take care of. And these are all things we already know are going to happen because they happen every day. And they become this pattern, this routine in our lives. And what that does is it takes us out of intentional living and puts us on this robotic cycle of here I go again—another day of repeating the same (often unintentional) things.
In reality: Every day is an opportunity for us to be living intentionally. We all have goals, dreams, desires, and things that we want to accomplish. These things can easily fall by the wayside when the “routine things” take precedence, so we have to be very intentional and we have to remind ourselves that life is a creation. We are all here to create and manifest, and to go after our dreams and the things that we want. The things that interest us, the things that matter to us.
We should not get stuck on the hamster wheel of this robotic process of I have to do this again today…repeat…repeat again. Do things because you want to do them, because they interest you, because they light you up, because they are things that matter to you. If you do have to go to your job to take care of paying the bills etc., I get that, but you can still live intentionally.
How Do You Begin Living Intentionally You May Be Wondering?
Start by setting intentions. Maybe it’s the way you want to feel going throughout your day, or on a personal level maybe it’s friends you want to make sure you’re keeping in touch with, or maybe there are certain hobbies and activities that you want to explore, or goals you might have for yourself. We don’t want these things to fall by the wayside. We really want to be intentional with our lives because that’s how we create.
Going back to the way that I was feeling when I woke up…I could have simply let that vibration that was running through me so strongly (that felt so out of alignment) dictate the direction of my day, and just went with it (instead of intentionally deciding how I wanted my day to go). I could have been like oh okay this is what’s happening to me, this is what I’m experiencing so I’m just going to go with it—but that is not intentional at all, and that’s where we run into trouble. A lot of times these vibrations and these feelings come up to teach us to live intentionally, and to remind us that we need to set the higher intention to create, instead of just allowing things to happen to us without our direct participation.
We need to show up and be conscious creators.
When we have dreams or goals it’s important to remember that nobody else is ever going to do it like us. So whether you want to draw, dance, paint, write, sing, create (you name it), no matter what it is that you want to show up and do in the world, even if it’s been done hundreds or thousands of times before, nobody else is ever going to filter it the same way, or come through with the exact vibration that you offer. Your vibration might really help somebody else. The way it comes through you may really speak to people in a particular way that only you can offer.
If there is a dream, passion, or desire in your heart it is there for you to pursue it. It is there because it is trying to come through you; to be created through you.
If there is something you’ve been thinking about doing but have been putting off write down some way you can get started on it, begin to explore it, or become involved in it. Our passions, interests, and desires are always there for a reason. They are there to help us, and they are there to help other people.
We don’t always know in advance the myriad of ways they may help us, help others, inspire people, etc. However, what we do know is that our interests and intuition are there for a reason and we are meant to follow through with them, and express ourselves. Expressing ourselves is super healthy and important because if we are not expressing ourselves we are repressing (and depressing) ourselves, and we will feel it on a soul level. Don’t be afraid to express the desires and interests that are coming through you. You are meant to share them with the world!
