Which Meditation Practice to Use?

Meditation… is believed to have numerous benefits such as relaxing the body and mind, quieting the mind to make our inner guidance clearer, and aiding in sleep, to name a few.

This is an area that has been challenging for me. With the world being so busy it seems like there is never enough time to just sit still. However, over the past few months I’ve been making an effort to meditate more regularly.

I’ve tried different techniques like listening to (audio) meditations, reading books containing guided meditations, sitting or laying silently, using various hand positions while meditating, meditating with a group, etc. There is no right way or wrong way, and I like to mix it up based on my mood.

The important thing is making time to do it. With meditating It’s good to have a designated spot where you frequently go to meditate. Somewhere free from distractions, where upon entering that particular space, you know it’s time to meditate. For example, at my house I have a massage table which I use to practice energy healing, but it is also my meditation spot. When I lay on the table and relax my body and quiet my thoughts I have set my intention to meditate.

I’ve been wanting to challenge myself to make the time to meditate daily. Its not always easy to do, but I know it will be good for me, and I’m curious to see what the results will be. I’ve had the idea for a while now to do a 30 day meditation challenge, where I challenge myself to meditate every single day for a month for 30 minutes or more.

I had not planned on starting this yet, but today I was having a very introspective day, and sporadically asked myself why not start it today? Sometimes we plan for things and by doing so never actually get past the planning stage. Being a person who likes to think things through before making decisions, it’s not always easy to make the spontaneous decision to act. But sometimes spontaneous action is what we need to get going.

Starting today, May 1, 2017, I begin my 30 day meditation challenge. I am excited to see what kind of impact this will have in my life. I will either post updates weekly or at the end of the 30 days. Wish me luck!
